Crif asks Pope Francis to speak out in the name of Christians about the Unesco resolution

"This resolution denies the past of both Jewish and Christian in the city of Jerusalem, including rereading the story, or rather rewriting, by renaming the square in front of the Western Wall 'square Al-Buraq', or when it claims that fake Jewish graves have been dug in Muslim cemeteries of the Old city, "wrote Roger Cukierman, adding " This decision struck deeply all the Jewish communities in the world, including that of France. Roger Cukierman draws attention of the Pope on the fact that "Unesco, by this vote, offended Christians as much as it insulted the Jews. For Jerusalem is the city of Jesus, of the Mount of Olives and of the Golgotha, the Via Dolorosa and the Holy Sepulchre. If I write to you, this is because we would like to hear your voice on this matter."

 

"We, Jews, are with you, with all the Christians. But we can not speak for you. In response to this resolution. We would like the Church authorities they simply speak for themselves"...

 

"This is why we would be very sensitive to a statement from Your Holiness, recalling the links of the three great monotheistic religions with Jerusalem ... Holy Father, by your words on that resolution, you would ease tensions and heal wounds that do not need to remain open", concludes Roger Cukierman.
