Crif - Crif at the Jerusalem Post annual conference, in New York

On Sunday, June 16, Crif attended the annual conference of the Jerusalem Post in New York. Each year, this Conference brings together major players in the fight against anti-Semitism and the delegitimization of Israel across the world. This year, the program was about the global fight against the boycott, the American peace plan and the upcoming Israeli elections.

On Sunday, June 16, close to a thousand people gathered in New York to attend the annual Jerusalem Post Conference. A major event that brings together every year journalists, writers, politicians, directors of associations and foundations, and members of civil society, all committed to their level in the fight against anti-Semitism and delegitimization of Israel.

As Israel prepares to hold new legislatives elections next September, the Conference was naturally tinged with a strong political context. Many Israeli ministers were present and answered questions from Jerusalem Post journalists and their colleagues.

After an introduction by Yaakov Katz, editor-in-chief of the Jerusalem Post, the Conference opened with the interventions of Dani Dayan, Israeli Consul General in New York, and Israeli Katz, Israeli Foreign Minister.

Ronald Lauder, President of the World Jewish Congress (WJC), then delivered a speech much applauded by the assembly. He noted the importance of being "a united people to face the anti-Semitic scourge". Ron Lauder emphasized the work of Jewish institutions and associations around the world to enable Jews to live their Judaism fully and freely.

Ayelet Shaked, Israel's former Minister of Justice, took part in the interview with Dana Weiss, Director of the Israeli Channel 12's political service. She officially announced her participation in the forthcoming elections and underlined that according to her, it was a real challenge for the Israeli Right.

When Dana Weiss asks her where she sees herself in a year, Ayelet Shaked does not hesitate for a second: "In a year, I'll be Minister of Justice again!"

Jason D. Greenblat, US President Donal Trump's adviser on international affairs, has had a long talk about the Deal of the Century, a peace plan that should soon be proposed by the United States. Like many of the ministers present that day, he said that, whatever the details of the peace plan, it must be seen as a real opportunity for stability in the region.

Ehud Olmert, former Israeli Prime Minister, was also present and gladly answered Yaakov Katz's questions. A relatively controversial figure in Israel, he said he had the opportunity to observe the next elections in the privileged place of the citizen, thus stating that he would not be in the running.

The Jerusalem Post has chosen to lead a full debate on the issue of anti-Semitism in the United States, echoing the latest deadly attacks in recent months. This discussion was introduced by Judah Samet, survivor of the Shoah and Pittsburgh Synagogue attack. Full of humor and second degree, he concluded by saying that although he had a lot of luck in life, he had never won the lottery!

In the afternoon, Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan presented the #TerroristsInSuits report. This report clearly establishes direct links between pro-Palestinian NGOs (such as the BDS for example) and terrorist organizations (such as Hamas or Hezbollah). His work was highly welcomed by the public. Gilad Erdan then honored the DigiTell network, whose Crif has been part of for several months. This network of digital experts, created in 2018, received the Jerusalem Post 2019 Award and highlighted the daily work of more than 100 people around the world.

The 8th Annual Jerusalem Post Conference has kept its promises and has offered the public quality interventions, marked by the passion, commitment and dedication of those who fight daily against anti-Semitism and the delegitimization of Israel.

DigiTell, what is it?

DigiTell is a network of digital experts created in 2018 by the Israeli Ministry of Strategic Affairs. It brings together a hundred participants around the world. Each of these participants is engaged at different levels in the fight against anti-Semitism and the delegitimization of Israel on the Internet.

Crif joined DigiTell in March 2019 participating in 3 days of conferences in Israel.

This year, the Jerusalem Post has decided to present its annual prize to DigiTell. This award was presented to participants during the annual Jerusalem Post Conference on Sunday June 16, 2019.
