Crif - United Nations: Two incomprehensible UN resolutions against Israel

Last week, dozens of countries, including Norway and six EU countries, voted at the United Nations in favour of two resolutions that accuse Israel of violating women’s rights and human rights. Crif President Francis Kalifat expressed his lack of understanding of this vote. He regretted that France had voted in favour of the resolutions, alongside those who "daily flout human rights".
France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg and Malta joined China, Russia, Iran and Venezuela and 29 other countries to support a UN resolution affirming "that Israeli occupation remains a major obstacle for Palestinian women and girls in achieving their goals. "

Another adopted resolution also mentioned "the social repercussions of the Israeli occupation" more generally on the Palestinian population.

Only Canada and the United States voted against the resolution. The United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Romania and Ukraine are among the nine nations that abstained.
