Manuel Valls to Friends of CRIF : "Changing attitude" against the BDS movement

"We will make arrangements to show that enough is enough and that one cannot get away with everything in our country"

Prime Minister Manuel Valls said on an meeting with Friends of CRIF that "the government must change its attitude" towards the demonstrations calling for the boycott of Israeli products, participating in the actual "sickening climate."

"One can see very well how it went from criticism of Israel to anti-Zionism and from anti-Zionism to anti-Semitism," said the head of French government. Manuel Valls allready condemened last December the BDS campaigns.

In early January, a gathering of the movement, however, was authorized by the police headquarters at the Paris Opera Square, while the Palais Garnier hosted Israeli Batsheva Dance Company. "This demonstration in front of the Opera was all the more absurd because it was a cultural event," said Manuel, as the president of CRIF, Roger Cukierman, reminded him of his reqaust for the prohibition of all BDS riots. "What I can tell you is that I will speak, and I have already spoken with the Minister of Interior, Bernard Cazeneuve,"  said the head of government.

"I think the government must change attitude towards this type of events," he continued, without endorsing the word "prohibition". "It seems to me to be part of a sickening climate, so I'm more than attentive about it. I think we'll make arrangements - but still within the law - to show that enough is enough  and that one cannot get away with everything in our country, "he said.
