#PressRelease - Crif condemns the new resolution of the Executive Board of UNESCO on Jerusalem

UNESCO's Executive Council voted on May 2nd a new resolution on Jerusalem condemning Israel and denying Jewish history in Jerusalem once again.

Crif congratulates the 10 states that have opposed this resolution and have had the courage to tell the truth and justice: the United States, Italy, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Greece, Paraguay, Ukraine, Togo and Germany. Their refusal to accept the scandalous accusations made by the Executive Board of UNESCO is a small but important moral victory for Israel and all the promoters of democracy within the international community.

For Francis Kalifat, President of Crif, "UNESCO once again undermined its own legitimacy by approving an unjust decision that denies the Jews and the State of Israel their history in Jerusalem. Once again French diplomacy has separated itself from its major European partners and opted for abstention rather than historical truth. "

Crif notes however the beginning of a change compared to the previous votes that were practically unanimous to condemn Israel.

22 states approved the decision; 23 abstained, 10 states voted against the resolution.
