Press release : Crif is outraged by the release of the terrorist of the "rue Copernic" bombing

The reaction of Crif.

The main suspect of the attack against the synagogue rue Copernic in 1980, was released from prison under control of an electronic bracelet.  This terrorist attack had made four dead and forty wounded.

Hassan Diab had been extradited from Canada and indicted in France in November 2014. Roger Cukierman, President of CRIF commented the news : "the arrest of Hassan Diab and his extradition to France in 2014 was a symbol of the determination of justice in the fight against terrorism.

This release is outrageous and irresponsible. It is an insult to the victims and their families. It will be interpreted as an indulgence on terrorism that has hit France hard. "Crif is the umbrella organization of French Jewish institutions."
