On Sunday, July 19, 2015, the President of CRIF Roger Cukierman, Jean-Marc Todeschini, Secretary of State for Veterans Affairs and Memory, and Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, participated at the commemoration ceremony of the roundup of Vél'd Hiv in the Square of the Martyrs-Jews (XV).
Between 16 and 17 July 1942 in Paris and the suburbs, 13,152 Jews (including 4115 children) were arrested. Fewer than 100 people arrested those days survived to the deportation. This raid was the largest arrest of Jews in France during the Second World War. Some 7,000 police and gendarmes mobilized by the Vichy regime were involved in the operation.
