#Crif - Crif International Relations Commitee invited Evan Bernstein from ADL NYC office

On November 20th, Crif International Relations Committee met with Evan Bernstein, Regional Director - New York of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), along with Yonathan Arfi, Vice President of the Crif and Chair of the International Relations Committee.
Evan Bernstein presented the disturbing rise of anti-Semitism in New York, with 1,299 antisemitic incidents in the first nine months of 2017, an increase of 67% over the same period in 2016.

Anti-Semitism in the United States comes mainly from two sources:

The BDS campaigns in first, launched from the campus, which incite hatred of Jews under the guise of promoting Israel's discrimination. Movements claiming the Alt Right also lead major anti-Semitic campaigns which are physical protests, as Charlottesville recent events where the slogan "The Jews will not replace us" was heard.

That is especially behind the Internet campaigns that the Alt Right hides its faces to deploy the new vectors of its good mastery. Spencer and Alternative Rights movements targeted Jewish journalists with no less than 2 million tweets.

Evan Bernstein presented the work he started in the continuity of the initiatives begun in the 1960s with minority groups in order to reconstitute a base for combating hatred. He also explained the role of ADL in the dialogue with the Internet industry.
