#YomHaShoah - Reading of the names of the French Jewish deportees in Paris Shoah Memorial

The ceremony of reading the names of the Jewish deportees of France, organized by Paris Shoah Memorial, took place on the 11th and 12th of April. It continued uninterrupted during 24 hours. Francis Kalifat, President of Crif, was present and took part in the reading.

On the occasion of Yom HaShoah, the ceremony to read the names of the Jewish deportees of France from the Shoah Memorial began on Wednesday, April 11. It continued uninterrupted until the next day.

Of the 76 000 names inscribed on the Wall of Names, were pronounced, one by one, the names of people deported from France by convoys n ° 71 to 85, Jews died in internment camps in France, executed as resistant, as hostages or summarily slaughtered (lists 90 and 91), and persons deported by convoys Nos. 1 to 20.

Some 200 people, former deportees, parents, volunteers, children, etc. read in turn, from the lists from the Memorial Book of the Deportation documented by Serge Klarsfeld, the names of "those he does not remains that the name "(Simone Veil).

The reading of the names started with the participation of children of the Talmud-Torah courses of the MJLF. A strong symbol that shows the importance of the transmission of memory so that no generation will ever forget what was the drama of the Holocaust.

Francis Kalifat, President of Crif, was there at the opening ceremony and took part in the reading.
