The visit of the Iranian President is an insult to the Jews of France and to the values of France

CRIF condemns the remarks of Iranian President Hassan Rohani, who said on French television last night: "Israel is not a legitimate state."

The Iranian President confirms to those who still had doubts that he remains an apostle of revisionism by challenging the legitimacy and therefore the existence of the State of Israel, as well as a Shoah denier as his regime continues to deny the Holocaust.

His official trip to France, which is questionable in principle, is an insult to the Jews of France and to all those who defend the values of democracy.

CRIF asks President François Hollande, and Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, to request the Iranian President to retract his statement; and express a public condemnation of Rohani’s words on Israel during his visit.

Nb.:
-  CRIF will also be publishing an advertising insert in major French Newspapers such as Le Monde, Le Figaro (see attached) that asks President Hollande and the French Government to obtain from Rohani the recognition of Israel, a declaration on Human Rights, a renouncement to Iran's military nuclear ambitions, and the end to Iran's support to terrorist organizations.

- Roger Cukierman, CRIF's President, is issuing an op-ed in Le Monde this week-end to disapprove Rohani's visit in France.

-  CRIF supports all demonstrations against Rohani's visit and the Iranian regime, which call for respect of the values of democracy and peace.
