French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin called Roger Cukierman, president of CRIF, to express his “indignation” following the statements made by the Iranian president.
CRIF took note with indignation of the statements made by the president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmandinejad, who, on 26 October 2005, declared that Israel must be “wiped off the map” and called for a reinforcement of the armed struggle of Palestinians, in the context of “the war between the Muslim world and the forces of oppression” (term designating the United States of America and the Western world).
These new bellicose declarations show to anyone who might have still doubted that Iran is committed to a real project of aggression against Israel and the democratic world. They reinforce the fears of seeing Iran equip itself very quickly with nuclear weapons for military purposes. The world must get its act together to prevent the irreparable from happening!
CRIF takes note with satisfaction of France’s attitude in condemning with utmost firmness the declarations of the Iranian president and summoning his ambassador to Paris.
