Working for the French Jewish monthly L’Arche and for Israel TV Channel 2, Gideon Kouts had accompanied President Jacques Chirac to Saudi Arabia in March 2006. In 2002, he had been forbidden access to a press conference while accompanying the French President on a visit to Lebanon to cover the 9th Francophone Summit.
