The CRIF President met François Pupponi at the main synagogue in Sarcelles, along with leaders of the community. The Mayor of Sarcelles stated that the town was a rich patchwork of cultures and that all the different components of the town got along well together.
Community leaders said that the number of anti-Semitic acts in Sarcelles had dropped sharply. Today, the Jewish population is mainly affected by petty delinquency, just like the rest of the population. Local authorities have set up a special helpdesk for the Jewish community to report thefts to the police.
The party then visited the district that houses most kosher shops and Jewish premises, and after that the discussion continued before a wider audience in the Sarcelles Jewish Community Centre. 1200 children attend different Jewish schools in Sarcelles.
