With Hizbollah representatives being invited on French soil, we intend to state clearly once again that Hizbollah is a terrorist organisation, as the President of the Republic reminded us recently.
We declare that it is not in the interests of peace to invite Hizbollah to Paris while it is holding two Israeli soldiers hostage, and is refusing the International Red Cross the right to visit them or provide any guarantee as to their health.
We recall that French civilians and military personnel have been victims of Hizbollah’s terrorism, in particular with the Drakkar attack in 1983 in Beirut.
In memory of all the victims, this meeting will be followed by a public ceremony.
For Raphael Haddad, President of UEJF: “Welcoming Hizbollah unconditionally in the Republic’s official residences today is an insult to France. It isn’t right to invite a terrorist organisation which has attacked France, in particular by the cowardly killing of our soldiers during the terrorist attack on the Drakkar.”
