Hamas Support of ISIS in Sinai: interview with Maj. Gen. Yoav Mordehai

"Hamas's military wing has plans with these ISIS gangs in Sinai…"

From Israel Ministry of Information and Communication July 7, 2015

Following are excerpts of a television interview given (2 July) in Arabic by Major-General Yoav Mordehai, Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, to Al-Jazeera following last Wednesday’s (1 July) deadly attacks on Egyptian forces in the Sinai Peninsula:

[Translated from Arabic]

“First of all I would like to send my condolences to the Egyptian people for the despicable act in Sinai carried out by an ISIS gang in the middle of the month of Ramadan. Israel is carrying out preventative and defense activities on the border, but I want to clearly state that we know that Hamas….

And I have confirmed information that Hamas in the Gaza Strip is providing administrative support and weapons and ammunition to Hamas militants in Sinai, and we also have information that after the act carried out in Sinai, Hamas helped in the activities taking place there and there is clear proof, for example: Wa'al Faraj, a Hamas brigade commander smuggled….

I want to be clear that Abdullah Kishta trains terrorists in Sinai, trains ISIS terrorist forces, and he is a Hamas person, and that Wa'al Faraj, a brigade commander, smuggles terrorists from Sinai for medical treatment in hospitals inside the Gaza Strip. These are unacceptable activities during Ramadan….

Hamas's military wing has plans with these ISIS gangs in Sinai….

And there is conclusive proof of what I am saying and I am certain of it….”
