AL MANAR STILL WANTS TO BE BROADCAST IN FRANCE

The French weekly magazine VSD has indicated that Al Manar intends to appeal its case in court to seek to obtain permission to broadcast in France. VSD stated that the legal case presented by Al Manar “is finalized”, even if its representative in France – whose name is not given by the magazine – is under few illusions as to the outcome: “The decision is in any case symbolic,” was his statement to the magazine.

The CRIF reminds readers that on December 13, 2004, the Council of State had ordered the company Eutelsat to cease beaming Al Manar’s broadcasts, following the broadcasting of anti-Semitic programs. On 14 December 2004, the channel ceased to be beamed. A few days later, the United States also announced that Al Manar would no longer be allowed to broadcast across the whole of the US, and since June 23, 2005, Al Manar is no longer broadcasted in Spain and in the whole of the South American continent. It is therefore totally out of the question that Al Manar will be able to once again broadcast its racist and anti-Semitic programs.
