CRIF AGAINST TV ANTI-SEMITISM

CRIF's action to counter Muslim satellite TV channels anti-Semitic programs is bearing fruit, explained CRIF's President Roger Cukierman to the French Jewish weekly Actualité Juive. "A draft law passed last February and to be voted this coming fall will enable the French Broadcasting Authority, CSA, to act."

Cukierman explained that, "when needed, CSA would communicate a file to the French Minister of Justice who in turn would request from the French-based satellite transponder company Eutelsat to stop beaming such transmissions to the French territory."

"The French government clearly decided to stop such transmissions by French-based companies. This political stand was confirmed during the recent OSCE meetings in Berlin and in Paris. This work must also be done on the European level. CRIF asked the French Ministry of Foreign affairs to intercede with Egypt, Iran, Lebanon and Syria who produce anti-Semitic TV programs.
