The Jewish Agency has slated an important budget to help the emigration of French Jews to Israel, announced in Jerusalem the organization's Director General Sallai Meridor. "In France, we don't need to convince people. Tens of thousands of people intend to leave for Israel, either because they are Zionists or due to their religious beliefs. We just have to help them to succeed in their integration here." The Jewish Agency is mainly targeting young potential immigrants for ideological, economic and demographic reasons.
"For the past three years, we have been hearing in France about the so-called huge potential of people ready to go on Alyah," said CRIF's President Roger Cukierman. "In fact, the figures show that the increase was from 2200 to 2400 people who immigrated to Israel during the past year (out of over half a million French Jews). Alyah is a personal decision and does not depend on politicians or governments or on the Jewish Agency".
