JEWS THANK THE VILLAGE THAT SAVED THEM

A memorial plaque was unveiled in the little French village of Chateaumeillant (Central France) where some 140 Jews were saved between 1940 and 1945 by "anonymous heroes" of the hamlet. Adopted and protected by the villagers, the Jews worked in farms and workshops and the children went to the local school. In presence of Eliane Klein, CRIF's representative for Central France, the plaque was unveiled. It just says "Thank you".
