SECULARITY LAW

The guidelines for the Secularity Law will be issued in the coming days. Following protracted discussions, the guidelines state that within the limits of the state-run schools, "The Islamic veil, whatever it is called, the kippah or a cross of obviously excessive size are forbidden".

While any kind of headgear is not acceptable at school, the pupils may wear "discreet religious signs".

CRIF pronounced itself in favor of the law, considering that the French Republican secularity was the best way to integrate people with different backgrounds.
