10,000 people celebrate Israel in Marseilles

Richard Prasquier, the President of CRIF had this to say: “What touches me, is the telescoping of the Hebrew and Gregorian calendars, which puts this anniversary of Israel at 60 on May 8, the day of victory over the Nazi barbarians, the day of victory for democracy.” Many leading local figures from the political sphere came to show their solidarity.

Simona Franckel, Israel’s General Consul in Marseilles, did not hide her emotions at this celebration: “Between Marseilles and Israel lies the Mediterranean, it’s not just a sea, it’s a cultural sphere, a land of hope and a future for our children”. She recalled what David Ben Gurion once said: “To be a realist, you need to believe in miracles.”
