A Rabbi aggressed in the Paris metro

This is what the victim had to say to the press: “I was walking along normally in the corridor of the metro, when I walked past this young man who was going in the same direction with his girlfriend. As I did so, he shouted out: You dirty Yid, I’m going to hit you, you dirty Yid. And then he gave me a powerful kick in my back. I shouted to him: Hey, what’s wrong? He then went on to punch me in the face and send my glasses flying. After that he ran away.”

The Mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoë, spoke of his consternation on hearing of this aggression, which he called “an attack on the values of respect and diversity that are at the heart of Parisian identity.”
