A ceremony took place at the Arts Faculty of Manouba, on the occasion of the donation to the University of Tunis by the family of Paul Sebag, the historian of Tunisia’s Jews who died in 2004, of a part of his library collection, the other part having been given to the Universal Jewish Alliance (AIU). Some students interrupted with shouts of: “The Jews to the sea, Long live Palestine, Long live Hamas, Destruction for Israel, We don’t want the library of Paul Sebag, a Stalinist Communist, No Jews at the University, We shall kill all Jews”. The troublemakers then tried to block the entrance to the lecture hall. Some of the professors who were trying to protect Paul Sebag’s daughter and Claude Nataf, the president of the History Society of Jews in Tunisia, one of the speakers at the symposium, were hit. The Tunisian authorities present apologized.
