A wide-ranging review of the international situation enabled the Ambassador and his hosts to exchange their points of view on a wide variety of issues: the Near and Middle East, Islam, Judaism, the Jewish cultural and religious heritage in Tunisia, the future of Israeli-Tunisian relations, President Sarkozy’s project for a Mediterranean Union, anti-Semitism, the memory of the Holocaust. On this last issue, the Ambassador, a former Minister of Education in Tunisia, expressed strong interest for a suggestion made by Richard Prasquier for an Arabic translation of books on the Holocaust.
