CRIF is shocked by the images of indecent joy shown on Al Manar, Hizbollah’s television network, and other Arab media, in honour of Samir Kantar, who has cold bloodedly murdered a whole family.
CRIF reaffirms its solidarity and that of France’s Jewish community with the families of the murdered soldiers and the people of Israel. Richard Prasquier, on behalf of CRIF, addressed his condolences to the families of the soldiers who had been deprived of any sign of life since 2006, despite the promises made by Hizbollah.
CRIF wishes to pay tribute to the ethical stance adopted by the Israeli government in accepting an unequal exchange to ensure that Israeli soldiers, dead or alive, are returned to their families.
CRIF also wishes to support the commitment made by Nicolas Sarkozy to obtain the freedom of Gilad Shalit, with the hope that this will happen soon, in particular thanks to the role played by Egypt.
