CRIF expresses shock about the audience granted by the Pope to a Polish anti-Semitic radio station

Because Radio Marya has a wide audience it is unfortunately being spared by the authorities and by the Catholic hierarchy, despite the protests coming from within Polish society itself. Its behaviour is totally incompatible with the climate of understanding and friendly relations that has characterised the relations between the Catholic church and the Jews for many years now, a climate to which the late cardinal Lustiger had contributed so much and who died unfortunately the very same day that Father Rydzyk was received by the Pope at Castel Gandolfo.

CRIF recalls that on numerous occasions Jean-Marie Lustiger had insisted on the fact that anti-Semitism is a sin. Convinced that a large majority of the Catholic Church shares this opinion, CRIF will continue to work with the Church to wipe out this scourge.

The Vatican considered that this meeting would change nothing in Jewish-Catholic dialogue, but gave no other indications.
