CRIF in Israel: We must reduce the level for hostility against France’s Jews, says Richard Prasquier

“I am very worried by what is happening in France; the level of violent behaviour is very high,” said Richard Prasquier. “Part of the Muslim community in France has a level of hostility against Jews that must absolutely be channelled,” he added. “By defending Israel’s right to retaliate against the incessant attacks from Hamas, I am defending the right to peace, unlike those who are demonstrating believing they are defending the Palestinians, when in fact they are defending Hamas which is a terrorist movement,” he insisted.

The delegation concluded its visit to Israel with a meeting with Israel’s Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.

“I am surprised,” said Tzipi Livni, “that other States who abide by the rule of law are organising a coalition to demand a ceasefire from Israel when their clearly stated goal is to combat terrorism! (…) We have nothing against the Palestinians, who are the victims of Hamas, and we wholeheartedly wish them to have a state that will live peacefully alongside the State of Israel… This is not Hamas’ goal today, far from it. They refuse to recognise Israel and are calling for its destruction… We will therefore decide in due time when to stop the offensive and we will let no one decide for us, nor fix our timetable… We know what we’re doing and what we still have to do.”
