CRIF’s 26th annual dinner – a Republican success

On February 9, 2011, the French Jewish umbrella organization CRIF hold its 26th annual dinner with President Nicolas Sarkozy as the guest of honor. The event gathered thousand participants and prominent French political figures such as Gérard Larcher, President of the Senate, ministers and representatives of the opposition. As every year, representatives of all religious families were present, along with many ambassadors and business men.




Richard Prasquier developed a major Republican speech on the rejection of Anti Semitism and racism, tolerance, democracy and the relationship between political majority and minorities. He also expressed dismay at the campaign to delegitimize Israel, “the boycott is only one element."



In his speech, Nicolas Sarkozy highlighted the Jewish roots of France and Judaism’s contribution to “French identity”, which preceded the foundation of the republic and even the Christianization of the country. "He also reaffirmed France's support to Israel and to the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians.
