Cabinet Minister of Justice Rachida Dati: “It is out of the question that the security of Israel and its citizens be compromised in any way”

Speaking of Iran, the Minister declared that “no country can alone impose its law on the world, and this is why I believe that peace will be the product of multilateralism.” Rachida Dati also underlined the decisive place that Israel occupies in the heart of Jews, after the Holocaust. “Israel is the assurance for every Jew that never will any of you have to experience one day what your parents and your grand-parents went through. (...) The creation of the State of Israel is a major political fact of our History. It is not a mere religious fact. It is not a mere historical fact. It is a political miracle. Its very existence, after almost 60 years, is the symbol of a people’s courage and is synonymous with hope for all of humanity. France is a friend of Israel. France has maintained a passionate relationship with Israel. Between France and Israel it is a heart relationship.” She went on to say that “it is out of the question that the security of Israel and its citizens be compromised in any way. Israel’s security depends on the building of peace, of a just and lasting peace. This peace will be built by respecting the identity of all and by respecting History.”

Concerning the role of women, she said: “They can be a cement between peoples, if they bring together and pool their commitments.”
