“The pain of the Armenian people is the pain of humanity, because this was a genocide,” said Bertrand Delanoe, Mayor of Paris. Led by a strong desire to “build fraternity”, the Mayor of Paris went on to say: “Our determination to see historical truth recognised is a message of hope to encourage all people to boldly look at their past.”
Regional CRIF delegations took part in similar commemorations across the rest of France.
