Defacement of a memorial to Jewish children who died in Nazi death camps

Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoë had this to say: “This abject violence must not put into question our city’s determination to undertake a demanding work of memory and truth, in particular with the Associations that are actively involved in remembering deported Jewish children, thanks to which hundreds of commemorative plaques have been placed on the walls of Parisian schools.” He hopes that “the authors of this intolerable deed may be arrested as soon as possible,” adding that a new memorial stone would soon be placed in the same location.

For its part, CRIF deplores this cowardly and despicable act.

A memorial in Pont-sur-Sambre, commemorating its liberation in 1944, has been destroyed for the second time in three years, and an anti-Semitic flyer placed on the windscreen of several vehicles.

This document, written in poor French with many spelling mistakes, takes up the main lines of the theory of a Jewish media, political and financial plot, an argument constantly put forward by Nazi sympathisers. According to the investigators, no connection has yet been made.
