Richard Prasquier, CRIF’s President, believes that the « red lines » laid down by some people were crossed. To avoid Geneva (Durban 2) being like Durban 1, CRIF launched an awareness raising campaign as soon as Richard Prasquier was elected in May 2007. CRIF informed the main political personalities of the issues. French President Nicolas Sarkozy made it his major subject at the CRIF dinner in February 2008.
Crif regularly has been sending missions to Geneva to meet the diplomats and prepare conference-related actions with the leaders of the Geneva community.
Yom Hashoah falls on April 20, the very day the conference begins.
Rama Yade, French Junior Minister of Human Rights has let it be known that France would take part in the Durban 2 conference to take place in Geneva.
Rama Yade was speaking before a regional assembly of CRIF in the Marseilles region at the closing ceremony of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
