Following an initiative by the EEIF, the French Scout movement has been reflecting on the theme of “living together”

This symposium will seek to show how the Scout Movement contributes to better intercultural understanding, thanks to the diversity and difference of its members and to the spirit of openness it seeks to foster by confronting different cultures and different spiritual and philosophical choices.

Daniel Robinsohn, President of the French Scout Movement and former President of EEIF, in his introductory speech reminded his audience that the French Scout Federation had been created in 1941, following a joint initiative by five Catholic, Protestant, Jewish and secular French scout and guide movements.

It was thanks to this multi-faith and multicultural federation that the Jewish movement EEIF was able to continue to function and exist even under the Vichy Government of wartime France.
