Responding to a request by the two Japanese envoys, Richard Prasquier explained the CRIF’s missions: transmitting the memory of the Holocaust, fighting anti-Semitism and solidarity with the State of Israel. Manek Weintraub paid tribute to the heroic actions of Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara who, as the Japanese consul in Lithuania during the Second World War, granted Japanese visas to Jews to save them from Nazi barbarity.
The meeting was an opportunity to discuss a special topic: the perverse effects of virtual platforms (video games, internet, avatars) in building the limits between good and evil, play and reality.
