MEETINGS WITH CATHOLIC AND ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN LEADERS

The lecture was given at a meeting of the French Jewish-Christian Friendship Association in the presence of the Bishop of Nanterre, Monsignor Riocreux, and Father Jean Dujardin.

A regular guest at the CRIF annual dinners, Metropolitan Emmanuel of the Orthodox Church received the President of CRIF Richard Prasquier, and Gérard Israel, the President of the CRIF committee for relations with the Catholic Church and the Christian world.

The three men expressed their satisfaction with the progress in dialogue between Christians from the Orthodox tradition and Jews and spoke of ways to further improve mutual understanding.

Born in Crete (Greece), Metropolitan Emmanuel was elected in 2003 to be Metropolitan of France and, as such, chairs the Assembly of Orthodox Bishops in France. He also represents the Orthodox Church at the European Union and is responsible for “academic dialogue” with Islam and Judaism.
