Meeting with the Anti-Defamation League

CRIF keeps up regular dialogue with American Jewish associations which, over the last few years, have been involved in the fight against acts of anti-Semitism against the French Jewish community.

The French personalities who took part in this meeting were very concerned to position these phenomena in the right perspective and to explain the context. Simone Veil, president of the Shoah Memorial Foundation, Ady Steg, president of the Universal Israeli Alliance and the lawyer Samuel Pisar, along with members of the CRIF executive explained all the nuances needed to understand the situation correctly.

Abraham Foxman emphasized the need both to denounce anti-Semitism and also to recognize and appreciate the efforts made by French authorities to counter it.

Jacques Chirac awarded the Légion d'Honneur to Abraham Foxman.
