Prasquier: Consideration of the Holocaust needs to be tackled very early in life

Richard Prasquier, explaining the general orientation of the discussions, denounced the disproportionate controversy triggered by the proposal put forward by Nicolas Sarkozy. “The proposals put forward [by the various members of this group] were not so distant [from the President’s proposal] as they might have first appeared,” said the President of CRIF, who approves Sarkozy’s choice of the last year of primary school. “That is when the children begin to structure themselves. (…) The Holocaust is a challenge for everyone. (…) Building on this major phenomenon of the 20th century, the idea is to help the children think about Otherness. Such an approach needs to be tackled very early in life.”
