Richard Prasquier: a reaction to the Goldstone report

“With this report, Israel has de facto seen itself denied the right to legitimate defence. Unfortunately, once the report has received the imprimatur of the UN and the prestige that such a label gives it, it is likely to appear to be what in fact it is not: a condemnation of Israel on serious and impartial grounds. Which is why we are surprised and saddened not to have seen France among the countries who voted against the adoption of the Goldstone report.”

“The consequences of adopting this report could be serious. We should not forget that in our country the outbursts of anti-Semitic violence have been fanned by times when the State of Israel was being pilloried. This why, unfortunately, we may fear that the consequences of the Goldstone report are likely to be felt in France too, and this is a source of concern for CRIF.”
