The latter announced that Romania would support Israel’s membership of the Francophone Union at the organisation’s conference to be held in Bucharest in October 2006. Foreign policy issues concerning Hamas and Iran were also discussed in these meetings. The Romanian ministers announced they would be taking a much firmer stand on these issues. They also committed themselves to ensuring that the restitution of property despoiled during the Second World War would go ahead as well as the care of the 800 Jewish cemeteries in Romania.
