Seine St-Denis (District North of Paris): a partnership with the Israeli town of Acre (Akko)

On several occasions, the Conseil Général unanimously expressed the wish for such a partnership with the Israeli towns of Kfar Saba and Acre.

At the beginning of the year, the Conseil Général established contact with the municipality of Acre, to which it has just granted an aid of fifteen thousand euros by way of OSE “in order to take part in the rehabilitation and refurbishment of the ‘Harimon’ and ‘El Mahaba’ kindergartens that are part of an infants school in Acre, Israel.”

Next 19th March, to complete this process, the Mayor of Acre, Shimon Lancry, will be signing a memorandum of understanding for this partnership with the prefecture of Seine Saint-Denis.

In a related issue, André Rossinot, Mayor of Nancy, a large city in Eastern France, spoke of the quality of the twinning between his city and Kyriat Shmona, which had been badly affected by Hizbullah’s attacks last summer.

André Rossinot, who is President of the Radical Party (a member of the ruling majority), addressing Roger Cukierman, President of CRIF, expressed his solidarity with the Jewish community in the face of the rise of anti-Semitic acts in France.
