Strengthening the ties between Jewish and republican values

In the presence of Richard Prasquier, President, and Haim Musicant, General Director of CRIF, and the co-Chairs of the Commission “Women in the City”, Nathalie Cohen-Beizermann and Edwige Elkaïm, Dominique Dahan indicated that enrolment in Jewish schools has increased by 63% since the wave of anti-Semitism in 2000. The Alliance school in Pavillons has seen its enrolment increase considerably, reaching today 800 pupils, 30% of whom come from the immediate neighbourhood.

As a preparation for Yom HaAtzmaut, Haim Musicant has made an appeal for Jewish institutions to stop funding Jewish schools that oppose the celebration of Israel’s independence. He has also referred to the need for strengthening the links between Jewish values and the values of the Republic, and the need “to be open to the world”.

On a related issue, Richard Prasquier has expressed the wish that the working group on education should become the forum par excellence for exchanges among all those involved in thinking around this issue.
