Teaching the Holocaust

These three topics, studied essentially through the prism of history, but also literature, philosophy and even the fine arts, were discussed at length in workshop sessions. One workshop was dedicated to the study of the Holocaust in the classroom. CRIF was represented by Elisabeth Cohen-Tannoudji, in charge of relations with the Ministry of Education. Marc Knobel, a researcher with CRIF, and who had had the opportunity of taking a group of high school students from the Lille district (Northern France) to Auschwitz, a trip organised by the French chapter of the WJC and the CDJC last November, took part in a workshop on organizing trips to places of memorial.

Teachers from several European countries were thus able to draw up a status report on the situations arising from these issues, in order to highlight best practices.
