Monday, April 15, 2016, the President of Crif sent a letter to François Hollande and a letter to the Egyptian Ambassador to France, Echad Badawi, to seek assistance from France and the Egyptian authorities to safeguard Jewish Egyptian heritage.

Roger Cukierman asked this heritage (Jewish archives and records of civil status, Sifre Torah, synagogues, cemeteries ...) to be restored, digitized, inventoried, protected and valued.

Having considered the request of the Crif, Echad Badawi responded to Roger Cukierman.

"These cultural goods are an integral part of Jewish history in the Middle East ... but also of Egyptian cultural heritage, and I can only agree with you about the importance of their protection," wrote the Egyptian Amabassadeur in his letter to the President of Crif.

"I have forwarded your request to the authorities concerned in Egypt, and I will keep you informed of the actions taken," he wrote.
