"We must, first of all, express a sense of horror in front of this barbaric act," said the President of CRIF, Francis Kalifat, on BFMTV, Tuesday, July 27, after the attack in Saint Etienne du Rouvray, "We saw a boy, 18 years old, and another young aged 17, attacking an old man, 84 years old, who could have been their grandfather or great-grandfather, attacking him barbarously, without any humanity, slaughtering him with knifes. I think it is important to say our compassion for all Catholics of France, to all Christians, but not only. As well as last July 14, one more time, whole France is attacked, like in all the other attacks - Charlie-Hebdo, Hypercacher - which took place in France, "insisted Francis Kalifat.

In the interfaith program, presented by Philippe Gaudin, also intervened, with the President of CRIF, Bruno Valentin, priest of the diocese of Versailles, and Ahmet Ogras, vice president of the CFCM (muslim French council).

Answering the call to prayer and fraternity made by Bruno Valentin, Francis Kalifat called to "pass from living together to doing together" and to "try to find ways to be examplary and lead the way to a peaceful society". "The Republican education is to be restored from its basis," he noted, "for, from very youn ages, hate speech develops in classrooms." "There is also a lot of work to do on the fiels of Internet and ocial networks, which are vectors of hate," added the President of CRIF.
