Press Release - The European Court of Human Rights justifies the Boycott of Israel

On Thursday, June 11, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) condemned France in a case of calls to boycott Israeli products. In this case, activists were convicted for inciting economic discrimination against people because of their nationality. This ECHR decision contradicts the case law of the Court of Cassation. Crif regrets this decision.

The study of anti-Semitism in French public opinion, published by the Foundation for Political Innovation (Fondapol) threatens to undermine attempts by the National Front to enter the French political mainstream. Anti-Semitism has little foothold in French society as a whole, but the study found a strong undercurrent of anti-Semitic feeling among the NF electorate.

There were 169 anti-Semitic acts perpetrated on French soil during the first trimester of 2014. This represents a 44-percent increase in comparison to the first trimester of 2013. We observe a 55 percent increase in violent anti-Semitic attacks and a 41-percent increase in anti-Semitic threats during the same period. Fight against radicalization: take action
