Crif - Crif attended to a "Building Bridges for combating antisemitism together" project session

Crif was invited by the World Jewish Congress to participate to the training session on “Understanding and Responding to Antisemitic Online Hate Speech”, for Community Organisations and Local Representatives, held in Brussels.

The project “Building Bridges”, supported by the World Jewish Congress in collaboration with CEJI and What Matters, is an EU-funded project that brings together Jewish community representatives, sports organizations, international organizations, and experts to tackle antisemitic hate speech, and to acquire effective tools and strategies.

On the beginning of April, leaders from France, Hungary, Croatia, Italy, Greece, Moldavia and other European countries gathered in Brussels to discuss how to counter online hate speech.

As of today, only a few Jewish Communities in Europe have the knowledge and capacity to professionally monitor hate speech online and put forward effective advocacy strategies to counter this issue.

This workshop allowed the attending professionals to map eventual partners that might help in these efforts, as well as to meet IT platform and European Commission representatives to talk about the strategies, tools, and methods to combat online hate.

The training ended with the meeting of Lara Levet, Public Policy Manager, EU Affairs at Meta and Wester Meijdam, Policy Officer, Office of EC coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life (TBC).

Crif was represented by Digital activities Manager Johana Mechaly and Social media Manager Céline Bitbol.
